Green Roof Kiosk at Kimball Elementary School (05/07)

Kimball Elementary School, Anacostia, Washington D.C.

Background:
In 2004, we partnered with Earth Sangha and Kimball Elementary School in Anacostia, Washington, D.C. to enrich their educational program.  Each year LANDS and WATERS has expanded its reach. This school year, we are  teaching students pre-k through 5th grade.

Project:
In our curriculum, we cover the importance of low impact development to reduce the footprint of human activity on the environment.  To better demonstrate these concepts, we partnered with Michael Perry of Building Logics to design and build a small green roof kiosk.  This kiosk displays art work third grade students create depicting scenes of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
